While I do not think this view is accurate, it is not necessarily an expression of simple prejudice; on the contrary, this view can be founded on a respectable philosophical argument. the argument I have in mind here has been given careful expression by Richard Wasserstrom, who claims that the lawyer-client relationship leads lawyers to occupy what he calls 'a simplified universe which is strikingly immoral'.Item Constructing a healthy population: tensions between individual responsibility and state-based beneficence(The Federation Press, 2008) Rogers, Wendy AnneItem Overall Quality of Life Measurement: Problems and Prospects in the Case of People with Disabilities(2007) Hunt, Ian Edgell; Bognar, GregThere are important practical and normative reasons for using quality of life measurement to evaluate programs and policies for people with disabilities. The quality of life framework has proved to be useful because it is flexible and general. It is flexible because it can take account of different kinds of information, tailored to the situation of particular target groups or even particular individuals. It is general because quality of life indices can assist decision-making on many different levels - from the individual to the national. This flexibility and generality ensures that it can be adapted to many sorts of applications where promoting people's welfare is a concern.Item Research Ethics for Social Scientists: Between Ethical Conduct and Regulatory Compliance(SAGE PUBLISHING/SAGE PUBLICATIONS, 2006) Israel, Mark Alan; Hay, Iain MillItem Ethics and the governance of criminological research in Australia(NSW BUREAU OF CRIME STATISTICS AND RESEARCH, 2004) Israel, Mark AlanItem Wanted - egg donors for research: A research ethics approach to donor recruitment and compensation(2008) Ballantyne, Angela Jean; De Lacey, Sheryl LynneItem Ethics and Policy in Health Care: Status and Prognosis(Palgrave Macmillan, 2005) Rogers, Wendy AnneItem Conceiving Human Rights Without Ontology(Springer Netherlands, 2005) Langlois, Anthony JohnItem Suffering - at the bedside of the dying(2006) Currow, David Christopher; Hegarty, Margaret MaryItem Virtue ethics and public health: a practice-based analysis(2004) Rogers, Wendy AnneItem What effects if any, do age and sex have on the ethical maturity of South Australian accounting students?(Hawaii International Conference on Business, 2003) Demosthenous, MariosItem When is sex-specific research appropriate?(2008) Ballantyne, Angela Jean; Rogers, Wendy AnneItem Gender Inequities in Health Research: An Australian Perspective, in Freeman(Oxford University Press, 2008) Rogers, Wendy Anne; Bennett, Belinda; Karpin, Isabel; Ballantyne, Angela JeanItem Evidence-based medicine and women: Do the principles and practice of EBM further women's health?(2004) Rogers, Wendy Anne
