Mary Heath

Mary Heath teaches criminal law and legal theory. In 2006, she won a Carrick Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, for a decade of inclusive, accessible, supportive and inspiring teaching of sexual assault law and a Carrick Award for Australian University Teaching in the Law, Economics, Business and Related Studies Category. She is a contact officer under Flinders University’s discrimination and harassment grievance procedures.

Her research currently focuses on reform of the law of rape and on theorising and evaluating effective, accessible and sensitive approaches to teaching rape law. She is undertaking a joint research project with Dr Ea Mulligan investigating the strategies that bisexual and lesbian women use to achieve and maintain wellbeing. Her PhD, The Feral State: A Feminist Critique of the Gendered and Colonialist Theoretical premises of ‘The State’ was completed in 2003.
