Abstract
The manipulation of language to achieve one’s aims leads us to the important
assertion that through speech politicians do indeed aim at achieving
a given outcome from a society. One way they achieve this is by painting
a picture through metaphor of that society in the present, as well as
in the past and the future. The examination of metaphor in the political
discourse of Georgios Papadopoulos and the analysis of it is an attempt
to determine how the manipulation of such rhetoric can be effective, if
at all, in a given social, historical and political context.
