In this paper the content of thirteen unpublished letters sent from Stelios Xefloudas, a writer from Thessaloniki, who was then living in Paris as a student, to George Theotokas in Athens and London, is analysed and discussed.

ItemΗ ποιητικοτητα του πεζου λογου: η περιπτωση του Γ. Ιωαννου και του Μ. Χακκα(Flinders University Department of Languages - Modern Greek, 2003)Please note: this article is in Greek. Today it is generally accepted that the old distinction "what is not prose is verse; and what is not verse is prose" is not fully valid. Furthermore, it has been argued that various genres tend to coincide. It is argued in this article that in both C. Ioannou's and M. Chackas's prose the poetic style lends the text lyricism, brevity and poetic language.

There are two parts in this paper. The first concerns the university critiques of the Poetical Competitions in Athens (1851-1897) as well as the theoretical basis of those critiques on 'naturalness' and 'truth'. The second refers to the case of Angelos Vlahos and in particular his ideas about comedy (1864/1865-1871).

ItemΥπερβαση της πραγματικοτητας: Αλ. Παπαδιαμαντη’ Φονισσα’ - Ν. Νικολαιδη ‘Περα απ΄ το Καλο και το Κακο’(Flinders University Department of Languages - Modern Greek, 2003)Please note: this article is in Greek. In this paper two novellas - The Murderess (1904) by Alex Papadiamantis and Beyond Good and Evil (1940) by Nikos Nikolaides - are analysed comparatively within the general theoretical framework of realism. More specifically, they are examined within the framework of Georg Lukacs' thesis on the relationship between Art and the historical-political reality.
