Abstract
Please note: this article is in Greek. The Literacy wars: In several countries there are debates and even conflicts on Literacy and especially teaching language, literature and history; thus we talk about “cultural wars” and “wars of literacy”. These controversies involve not only teachers, academics and theorists of literacy and education, but journalists, politicians and social organizations as well. This paper presents the debate about teaching language, literature and history in school in the USA, Australia and Greece and explores how these debates affect the development of the curriculum and initiate changes. It also explores which trends of theory they reflect.
