The Drama Department of Flinders has always combined conventional scholarly research with other activities such as: performance research, the creation of new productions, extensive theatre and music reviewing for both the state and national press. Drama is linked to three key national and international research bodies: the Australian Performance Laboratory which specialises in performance research; the Foundation for Intercultural Performing Arts, and international network dedicated to the promotion of international understanding and world peace through the practice of performing arts; and AusStage, a research infrastructure project centred around a national performing arts database which is designed to list all dramatic performing arts events in Australia, both past and present. In addition to these collaborative research areas, each member of staff has developed a research profile which links their academic research with their involvement in the performing arts, either as a practitioner or as a critic. The research publications of individual members of the drama department can be found in the sub-cummunity for each staff member.
